New Delhi, Aug 20 (UNI) Unruly scenes were witnessed in Lok Sabha today when Opposition members tore and threw the copies of the three Bills moved by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, forcing Speaker Om Birla to adjourn the House till 3 pm.
When the House met at 2 pm, the Speaker called the Home Minister to move the three Bills.
Amit Shah moved The Constitution (One Hundred and Thirtieth Amendment Bill), 2025; The Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2025; and The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
Opposition MPs threw the copies of the three Bills towards Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the Lok Sabha, which seek to remove the Prime Minister or Chief Ministers who are facing allegations of corruption or serious offences and have been detained for 30 consecutive days.
Congress members Manish Tiwari, KC Venugopal, AIMIM member Assaudin Owaisi and NK Premchandaran of RSP opposed the bills.
Asaduddin Owaisi of AIMIM while opposing the Bills accused the government of creating a police state.
Manish Tiwari said that this bill will make the investigating officer the boss of the Prime Minister. This bill will open the door of political misuse.
Meanwhile, NK Premchandaran said that the government has brought the bils in haste.
The Opposition members came close to the Treasury Benches and tore the Bills and threw at them.
Huge sloganeering prompted the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to adjorn the House till 3pm.
Opposing the Bills, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi said, "I stand to oppose the introduction of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill 2025, the Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill 2025, and the Constitution (One Hundred and Thirtieth Amendment) Bill 2025. This violates the principle of separation of powers and undermines the right of the people to elect a government. It gives executive agencies a free hand to act as judge and executioner based on flimsy allegations and suspicions."
